Pewsey Neighbourhood Plan

Pewsey Neighbourhood Plan

The Pewsey Neighbourhood Plan was originally adopted (“made”) in 2015 and runs until 2026. Since then, it has served the village well by providing clear, ongoing policies to protect our rural character, support our community, and resist unsuitable development.

However, changes in national policy – including guidance suggesting that neighbourhood plans over two years old carry less weight – meant our current Plan risked being challenged, particularly by housing proposals outside the approved settlement boundary.

In response, we began reviewing the Plan in 2021. Although the proposed updates are relatively modest, we were advised that they would now be treated as a new Plan. Our dedicated volunteer working group has since spent many hours preparing this revised version, which – if successful – will run from (hopefully!) 2025 to 2038.

We are now approaching the next formal stage: Regulation 14 consultation. This means we will share the draft with all statutory bodies, local organisations, and, most importantly, you – the Pewsey community. All comments will be reviewed, and where appropriate, incorporated into the final draft before it is submitted to an independent examiner. If approved, it will then go to a local referendum.

It took four years to create the original Plan, and this updated version has taken nearly as long – a testament to the care and commitment of everyone involved. Thank you for your continued support as we shape the future of our village together.
